MN., Aug. 19, 2002 – The PING Fitting Experience©,
a hands-on event for golfers who want to improve their games
and be custom-fit for PING‚ golf clubs, will be an added
attraction at The Solheim Cup“ tournament at Interlachen
Country Club next month.
Located just inside the main public entrance
to the club grounds, the PING Fitting Experience will feature
iron and driver hitting stations, a specially constructed
putting green and be staffed by club fitting specialists from
PING.
There is no charge for this service, which is
being offered to anyone holding tickets to the Solheim Cup,
the premier biennial team championship of ladies professional
golf.
“We’re obviously excited about the
the Solheim Cup coming to Interlachen, and we’re equally
excited about the PING Fitting Experience being staged on
our property,” said Jock Olson, Interlachen Country Club’s
Master PGA professional.
 PING
plans to have three fitting stations available for dynamic
fittings where golfers can hit balls with PING irons and be
checked for proper PING Color Code (lie angle), grip, shaft
flex and other fitting options.
In addition, a PING launch monitor will be available
for golfers to be custom-fit for the new TiSI Tec‘ driver.
The launch monitor is a high tech electronic unit that provides
fitting data, including launch angle and golf ball spin rate,
as well as a golfer’s swing speed and ball speed at contact.
“PING is doing everything to make this
fitting experience as golfer friendly as possible,” said
Olson. “It’s going to be informative and fun for
all golfers, no matter their handicap.”
PING has selected SYNLawn Golf,
Orlando, Fla., to design and build a synthetic turf putting
green for its custom putter fitting sessions at The Solheim
Cup.
One of the most recognized brands in the golf
industry, SYNLawn Golf is a division of Universal
Turf, Inc., and was contracted by PING earlier this year to
install a similar putting green at the Masters for custom
putter fittings.
When they complete the PING Fitting Experience,
golfers will be able to take their personal custom-fitting
information to an authorized PING retailer of their choice
and order custom-fit, custom-built PING golf clubs.
The PING Fitting Experience will be open throughout
Solheim Cup week, Sept. 17-22, from 8:00AM to 6:00PM daily.
